Don't Wear A Hood and Call It A Church Hat by Barbara Evans

On Thursday night, my son called me from his home in Union, Kentucky near Cincinnati.  He told me that he had received notice from my grandchildren's school that the parents had the option of keeping their children from hearing President Barack Obama's speech to be aired to the school children next week.  Worse, the school was not going to show it live, they would show it the day after.  They told my son that they couldn't get a preview copy of the President's speech. Since that time, the President has agreed to provide a public preview of his speech to our children.  This is the most disrespectful thing I have ever heard.  Disrespectful to the people, certainly disrespectful to our President.  Disrespectful to God. Lowndes County Once More Endures Shame and Embarrassment

There are folks in our community who settle disputes by calling the law.  You know them, the ones who want law enforcement to settle neighborhood problems, or who want to take warrants out on people for revenge or hatefulness.

Okra Festival and the Beloved Community

On the last Saturday in August, I could feel Alice Stewart and Dr. King smiling down from heaven on the most successful Okra Festival in its 9-year history.  Alice, the co-founder of the Festival was smiling at the big crowds, and Dr. King was smiling at a local model of his “beloved community”, working together, having fun together and bringing something great to our community.  Read More...
